Description: This dataset maps the locations and details of current and proposed Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) devices shared with the Regional Wildlife Science Collaborative (RWSC) Marine Mammal Subcommittee. On the map, color indicates the practitioner or funder, while symbol shape distinguishes archival (circle) from real-time (cross) devices. Proposed devices appear in sync with the time slider. Click any deployment point for location metadata including the deploying entity, planned dates, data storage location, and a point of contact, who should be contacted for any deployment-specific questions. To add a sensor to this map, contact RWSC Marine Mammal Subcommittee Coordinator Debbie Brill at deborah.brill@duke.edu. Description: This data layer shows the components of a proposed Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) design for regional long-term monitoring in U.S. Atlantic waters. This grid design was amended by the Regional Wildlife Science Collaborative (RWSC) Marine Mammal Subcommittee in March 2024 from the Van Parijs et al. 2021 suggested design to include new components as suggested by the results of a regional PAM optimization study (Chudzinska and Thomas, 2023).
